Young earth creationism. your view.

Hi all. I am a Christian, some friends and most people at my church are believers in young earth creationism, i.e, athe world being less than 10,000 years old. when i consider the size of the universe and just look at photos of the galaxies and events in space, i fail to agree. in fact i think it's silly. Is there anyone who can help me with offering more proof as to why i don't agree with this. any expert opinions would be good.
