Best car amplifier for my car?

I have two 10" JBL LC-S 1000w subs and I need to know what amplifier is best for them. I have heard that if i buy a 2 channel amp then it needs to have 2000 watts because each channel will give 1000 watts to each sub, is that true? If not then what amplifier do you recommend that will make my subs go to the limit but with out blowing them? Also right no I have my subs in a sealed box, Is that okay or should i get one of those boxes that have a hole for the air.
