What filter to use in my fish tank?

I am in the process of stripping down my 2 feet fish tank and feel I need a new filter. In the past I have always used fluval filters but when I purchased this tank from the store was advised otherwise and to not use fluval. Reading the reviews it would would appear that fluval filters are perhaps the best on the market and I am think of getting a fluval u2 however I am open to suggestions or comments, please advise.
